How I work with models on TFP (or TFCD)

I always have several projects in the works (two linked on the sides). Much of my work is with themed projects. These are usually a lot of fun and involve special outfits, costumes, and props and often are on the edgier and erotic side of the creative process. I am also interested in glamour photography and fine art photography. The eras of the 40's and 50's captures the fashion, make-up, and hair styles I love to work with. I am inspired in particular by Gil Elvgren's artistry. [More Elvgren here]

I've worked with very experienced models as well as beginners. I love working with models, make-up artists and stylists in this process of creating imagery. Although I am a photographer, I see myself as a digital artist. This is a fancy way of expressing that there are two important components to creating an image. First, of course, is creating the environment for the photograph and making the exposure. The second part of this process is post-production - the digital editing of the image. This may entail no more than simple retouching or color balancing. However, it could also involve major artistic changes in the image. My wife and I share interests in clothing fashion (she has a web site that is linked by more than a thousand museums, universities, and other sources). As a result of our shared interests, I have an extensive wardrobe that we can use in my shoots.

I generally do 1 or 2 FTP shoots a month. I get more requests than I can accommodate for FTP shoots, so paying work and special projects get priority in my schedule. When opportunities for paying a model occur (i.e., when I am being paid for a job), my preference is to hire models that I have experience with. Always make sure you know what your expectations are for a photoshoot. I've prepared a list of things for you to consider (click here).

I have prepared a page listing what I will do and a page listing what I will not do in a TFP photo shoot. It is very important for you to read this prior to deciding to work with me. Thank you very much for doing that!

Please contact me if you have any questions.
